Hailed as the 'Derby' of the coursing world, the Waterloo Cup was established in 1836, as the result of a meeting at Sefton Altcar, a village near Liverpool. Named after the rendezvous point of the Waterloo Hotel, it became the most famous of all British coursing events, making the winning greyhounds landmarks in the history of the breed.
