Lot Essay

The younger son of Sir William Rothenstein, he studied at Chelsea School of Art in 1923, and at the Central School 1924-7, under Meninsky and Hartrick. In 1957 he worked with Hayter (see lots 288-289) at Atelier 17 and invented relief printing from raw materials. His work is represented in public collections including Tate Britain.
