Lot Essay

Frst August Longin Lobkowitz (1797-1842), son of Frst Isidor, was governor of the Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria 1826-1832. He later returned to Vienna where the present miniature was painted about 1837. A watercolour portrait of the same sitter by Daffinger, dated 9 March 1837, is illustrated in G.
