Lot Essay

Second edition of Morrona's work on the art treasures of Pisa, and the first to contain the two engravings printed from a 15th-century copper plate owned by the artist. The plate, worked on both sides, showed St. Jerome in penitence, and the Inferno according to Dante. No contemporary impressions were known to Hind (Early Italian Engravings, nos. 58-59, pl. 54-55).
