Private A. Wilkie served with 'No. 1 Independant Infantry Company' on detachment from the 2nd. Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, during the Malayan Campaign, 1941-42 (No. 1 Independent Infantry Company was intended to conduct guerilla tactics behind the enemy lines in Malaya, but in the event was not used in this capacity during the campaign).
