A chromed metal 'Manhattan' cocktail shaker, large model, by Norman Bel Geddes, for the Revere Copper & Brass Company, circa 1937

Inspired by his friend, the Expressionist émigré architect Erich Mendelsohn, American-born industrial designer Norman Bel Geddes produced many of the most distinctive household products of the 1930s. Majestically illustrating the purity of modern architectural form, this example of the celebrated 'Manhattan' cocktail shaker is of exceptionally large scale, and bears witness to the glamour of American post-Prohibition society.
