Stylistically close to the drawings in the album in the Morgan Library and Museum, New York (F. Stampfle et al., Netherlandish Drawings of the Fifteenth and Sixteenth Centuries and Flemish Drawings of the Seventeenth and Eighteenth Centuries in the Pierpont Morgan Library, New Jersey, 1991, nos. 113-215) and on a sheet of a similar size, though horizontal in format unlike the Morgan studies. The drawings were all engraved, with one exception, and used to illustrate Quinti Horatii Flacci Emblemata published in Antwerp in 1607. However, the present drawing did not serve as a design for an engraving in the 1607 book and no other related works are known.
