Avec leurs enroulements savamment étudiés, ces fauteuils illustrent à merveille le talent d’Henri Samuel -et celui des tapissiers travaillant pour lui-. Soulignons d’ailleurs que Samuel fit le choix d’avoir son propre atelier de tapissiers.
On trouve des fauteuils très approchants dans une des créations incontournables d’Henri Samuel, la Salon d’Hiver qu’il créa pour Susan et John Gutfreund pour leur résidence new-yorkaise (E. Evans Eerdmans, Henri Samuel, Master of the French Interior, New York, 2018, pp. 208-209). Il déclina également ce modèle dans une version plus imposante (cf. E. Evans Eerdmans, op. cit., pp. 212-213 et 217).
