This and the following three lots were engraved for the Herbier General de L'Amateur published between 1816 and 1827, dedicated to King Charles X with the text by Mordant de Launay and Loiseleur Deslongchamps. The work in eight volumes, contains 575 hand-coloured plates engraved by various artists. Drawings by Bessa for the book were sold in these Rooms, 1 December 1970, lots 124-36
