Lot Essay

Accompanied by Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with amagnetic calibre 27 AM 400 in 1962 and its subsequent sale on 26 July 1962. It has never been offered in public before.

Reference 1578 was introduced into the market in 1943 and made in three series, the majority fitted with calibre 12-120 or 12-400 movements. Only seven examples of this reference with the antimagnetic calibre 27 AM 400 out of which only three with the additional rarity of a black dial, such as the present watch, are known to have appeared in public to date.
