The first generation was fitted with snap on case backs. Around 1989, the model was modified to a water-resistant version with screw back and was delivered with an additional sapphire crystal display back. Reference 3970 remained in production until 2004 when it was replaced by reference 5970 (please see Lot 2683 and 2684 in this sale). Fresh to the market, the present reference 3970 in pink gold is preserved in excellent overall condition: the case is sharp, the lugs are well defined, the hallmarks are crisp, the dial is intact - this example should delight its future owner.
