With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1954 and its subsequent sale on 11 August 1960.

The present watch delights by virtue of its stylish visual appeal and its beautiful and clear repeating sound. Overall in excellent condition, the case has a very sensual appearance with its perfectly proportioned dial and elegant repeating slide. The lugs give the watch a voluptuous note with their small flared kink at the bottom, while the plain dial with its beautiful shine excudes understated elegance, further enhanced by the silvered beady minute divisions which contrast subtly against the applied facetted gold baton indices.

A rare watch, meticulously crafted and in beautiful condition, the reference 2524/1 on offer is a gem that any collector would be proud to have in his collection. This may even be more so as the watch is one of only four examples of this reference without subsidiary seconds to have appeared at auction to date.

Moreover, the simplicity of the dial, indicating time only and lacking any other indication, most notably subsidiary seconds, gives the watch a very discreet and contemporary look.

Minute repeating wristwatches are amongst the rarest and most desirable trophies in today's collectors market. Due to the extreme cost of production, only a limited number of such 12 lignes movements, supplied by the prestigious ébauche manufacturers Fritz Piguet, were ever made.

Reference 2524/1, one of the world's rarest wristwatches, was launched in 1954 and was made in two versions: one without subsidiary seconds and the repeating activated by pushing downwards, such as the present watch, the second with subsidiary seconds and the repeating slide activated by pushing upwards.

The two versions of reference 2524/1 are illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, pp. 318 & 319.
