It is inscribed with a commentary praising Jin Yue by Mao Xiang (1611-1693) and signed Chaomin Laoren Xiang and dated yimao year (1675), with two seals.
Jin Yue, who was a native of Kunshan near Suzhou, was one of Mao Xiang's three concubines who were artists. She specialized in landscapes and flowers, frequently copying from older models, resulting in a wide variety of paintings attribued to her. Jin Yue usually painted at Mao Xiang's request, and her works were often inscribed by him and presented as gifts.
