COLENSO, William. A Maori-English Lexicon, Wellington: John Mackay, 1898. Parts I-II in one [?all published], 8° (235 x 153mm). Half titles, 4pp. autograph letter from the author to "Mr Enys" tipped in concerning the present work and mentioning that he had drunk tea with Darwin and Fitzroy in 1835. Original cloth, lettered in gilt on the upper cover. Provenance: John Davies Enys (armorial bookplate); author's compliment slip inserted. A FINE COPY OF THE RARE FIRST EDITION. Hocken p.441: "This specimen was the sole one issued...".
