A SMALL ZITAN TWO-TIERED PICNIC BOX
QING DYNASTY, 18TH/19TH CENTURY
The box is of rectangular form, comprising a narrow cover and two trays with beaded edges, one with a smaller fitted inner tray, set on a base frame flanked by standing spandrels carved in openwork, joined at the top by a humpback handle secured by a pin through the cover. The wood is of a rich even dark brown tone.
