Arabic manuscript on cream paper, 312ff. plus 1 fly-leaf, each folio with 15ll. of black naskh in clouds reserved against gold ground, text boxes with gold and polychrome rules and gold palmette border, gold and polychrome verse rosettes, catchwords, sura headings in gold thuluth against gold and polychrome floral illuminated panels, suras also marked in floral cornerpieces on the upper outer corner of each page, illuminated marginal medallions marking the nisf, juz', and hizb, marginal commentary in black shikasteh within elaborate cartouches of varying sizes, sura al-fatiha and the opening of sura al-baqara between heavily gold and polychrome illuminated margins, the first and final bifolios with calligraphic medallions on gold and polychrome floral ground, a few folios loose in binding, in elegant contempoary lacquer boards with finely rendered floral bouquet between floral spandrels and borders, with cartouches giving the name of the maker and date, the doublures with depiction of 'Ali between borders of calligraphic and floral cartouches, minor losses
