The scribe of the marginal notes of this Qur'an, 'Abd al-Wahhab, was the youngest son of the celebrated Shirazi calligrapher Muhammad Shafi', pen-named Visal (1782-1845). Visal was one of the most famous masters of nasta'liq in 19th century Iran. He also transcribed pious works in the style of naskh canonized by Ahmad Nayrizi (Sheila S. Blair, Islamic Calligraphy, Edinburgh, 2008, p. 426).
'Abd al-Wahhab was also a poet with the pen-name Yazdani and was known for his nasta'liq. He died in AH 1328/1910 AD.
