Lot Essay

A gu of slightly larger size (28.8 cm. high) cast with a closely related inscription is in the Anyang Research Station of the Archaeological Institute, illustrated by Hayashi Minao in In shu jidai seidoki no kenkyu [Conspectus of Yin and Zhou bronzes], vol. 1, Tokyo, 1984, pl. 327, no. gu-128. Another gu, bearing a similar inscription also in the Anyang Research Station of the Archaeological Institute, is illustrated by Yan Yiping in Jinwen Zongji (Corpus of Bronze Inscriptions), Taipei, 1983, no. 5926.
