Bought by the parents of the present owner at a charity sale for destitute children organized by the newspaper "De Tijd" in 1954.
This lot is sold with a letter by the artist addressed to
"De Tijd", dated 31 October 1954 in which he states "A votre demande de ce que je puis souhaiter, je réponds qu'en autres choses, je voudrais que d'or fasse beaucoup moins de bruit dans le monde".
