Felmersham lies beside the river Ouse to the north west of Bedford. Sir Nikolaus Pevsner noted that it enjoys 'the noblest parish church in the county [built] during the noblest age of medieval churches'. The town provided many subjects for the extensive Fraser clan of watercolourists, which included Robert Winchester Fraser's son, Robert Winter Fraser, and his brother William Fraser Garden.
