(Variable light spotting of plates, and light offsetting from plates onto text.) Contemporary green morocco-backed cloth, spines gilt, speckled edges (extremities rubbed, upper cover of vol. II slightly damaged).
FIRST EDITION of the second, climactic part of Roberts's Holy Land. First appearing in twenty numbers, most containing six plates, it successfully brought to a conclusion 'one of the most important and elaborate ventures of nineteenth-century publishing ... the apotheosis of the tinted lithograph.'
