Created in line with aeronautical innovations of the 1950s and the appearance of jet-powered aircrafts, the Rolex GMT-Master emanated from a previously unknown syndrome, the jetlag.
Worried about negative effects on their pilots, the airline company Pan American Airways commissioned Rolex to engineer a wristwatch able to simultaneously keep track of time in two time zones. The present collaboration gave birth to a timepiece with an additional hour hand revolving once every 24 hours and a bi-color rotating bezel allowing pilots to easily differentiate between day and night time.
Throughout the years, the GMT-Master stayed true to its origins and imposed itself as one of the most reputable and collectible Rolex wristwatches.
