Part I only, 2° (479 x 343mm). 141 etched and engraved plates including title and dedication, numbered to 142, 78 by and after Alessandro Specchi, 40 by Antonio Barbey and 17 by Francesco Bartoli, 7 folding. One letterpress leaf. (Closed tear into title border, final plate repaired on verso, a few other marginal tears and repairs). Contemporary calf (rebacked, covers chipped, upper joints slightly split). Provenance: Francis Ferrand Foljambe (stamp on title).
Comissioned by the leading architectural print-publisher of his day, the plates show measured elevations, views, plans, sections and details of secular buildings in Rome, with a special emphasis on doors, alcoves, windows and staircases.
