Collection of letters, Persian manuscript on buff paper, 21ff. each with 5ll. of flowing black shikasteh within gold clouds, diagonal corner pieces in turquoise and cobalt, opening gold and polychrome folio, final folio signed Kacheh Ikhtiyar and dated Safar 948, very light smudging, illumination 19th century, in red morocco binding with gold medallions

These are copies of letters of Amir 'Ali Shir Nawai, Mawlana Jami, Sultan Malik Shah together with some anonymous love letters.
Khwaja Ikhtiyar Munshi was a native of the capital Herat where he was employed with the correspondance of the Shah Sultan Muhammad of Khurassan. He is mentioned in Calligraphers and Painters, A Treatise by Qadi Ahmad, Minorsky, V. trans., Washington, 1959, p. 91.
