As part of his work reconstructing war-torn London, Richardson was asked to undertake the entire rebuilding of James Wyatt's masterpiece, Trinity House, which had been burnt out in December 1940, leaving a roofless shell. Richardson was able to work from Wyatt's own drawings when rebuilding, as well as his own memory of the building which he had studied as a young architect. He was also commissioned to add a wing containing a library, the Pepys Room and an office building to the rear, which was demolished in 1999.

We are grateful to John Harris and Charles Hind for their assistance with cataloguing the group of architectural drawings.
