Lot Essay

Burne-Jones's 'Days of Creation', executed between 1875-76, consists of six watercolour panels of angels symbolising the six days of creation derived from Genesis I. Included in Burne-Jones's first exhibition at the Grosvenor Gallery, London in 1877, they now form part of the Grenville L. Winthrop collection at the Fogg Art Museum, Harvard University, Cambridge.
