SIR ERNEST HENRY SHACKLETON (1874-1922)

Details
SIR ERNEST HENRY SHACKLETON (1874-1922)

Two identical sheets with pictorial lithographic heading: 'The British Antarctic Expedition 1907 1909' (273 x 216mm), signed by Shackleton and the other 15 members of the expedition shore party.

The autographs are directly comparable with those in The Antarctic Book (see lot 348), being on the same paper and following a similar layout with Shackleton's autograph at the head of 13 others on the first sheet, and just two autographs, those of J.W. Edgeworth David and Douglas Mawson, on the second. The Shackleton autograph is in slightly browner ink than the rest, and written in a more controlled manner than the flamboyant signature in the next lot.
Special notice
No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VAT at 17.5% will be added to the buyer's premium, which is invoiced on a VAT inclusive basis.
