Lot Essay

In 1909, Brangwyn visited his friend, R H Kitson, in Taormina with the purpose of designing a complete dining room interior for Kitson's house, Casa Cuseni. Whilst there, he witnessed the devastation caused by the Messina earthquake and produced a number of sketches and etchings which were exhibited at The Fine Art Society, November, 1910.
Christie's are grateful to Libby Horner for her help in preparing this catalogue entry.
