拍品专文

'As this work was presented by the artist to his brother in law James Pryde, it seems reasonable to assume that Pryde is the figure in the foreground, relaxing on the slopes of Beacon Hill. The view looks south towards Rottingdean Gap with East Hill to the left and the sea in the distance' (P. Reed, William Nicholson: Catalogue Raisonné of the Oil Paintings, New Haven and London, 2011, p. 186).
