Derived from the principal figures in Callot's etching of Le combat au pistolet (Lieure 1313), from the series of Les combats de cavalerie, datable to the period 1632-34. Another drawing by Stefano after Callot was sold at Christie's London, 4 July 1995, as part of lot 204.
