A charming note, with the writer's full signature ('Robert Louis Stevenson'), enjoining his correspondent, who evidently has literary aspirations, to 'read good authors with passionate attention; refrain altogether from reading bad ones'.
The letter was written at the house which Stevenson had built on the 400 acres of land which he had purchased in the mountains of Samoa, after his Pacific voyage.
