Believed by Vroom to be an autograph work by Gerrit Willemsz. Heda, Fred Meijer, of the RKD, The Hague, has pointed out that this painting is likely to have been executed after a lost still-life by Willem Claesz. Heda, versions of which exist in both horizontal and vertical formats.
