Second enlarged edition of the Ship of Fools, with additional poems by Brant and Thomas Beccadelli. The woodcut illustrations are those commissioned for the first edition (in German) of 1494, at least 70 of which are now attributed to Dürer. Chancery quarto (200 x 148mm). 163 leaves (of 164, without final blank). Numerous woodcuts (repair to title affecting woodcut, some headlines shaved, closed interior tear affecting one leaf; some toning and staining). 18th-century blindstamped pigskin over wooden boards, clasps, edges blue-black (corner restored; resurfaced?). Provenance: Edward Ponell (armorial bookplate).
