LE SUCRIER DE GEORGE III ANCIENNE COLLECTION DU DUC ET DE LA DUCHESSE DE WINDSORCes six lots proviennent de la collection du duc et de la duchesse de Windsor dispersés en 1998 au cours d’une vente historique qui rassemblait quelques quarante mille souvenirs de famille hérités de la famille royale britannique ou de celle de Wallis Simpson. L’histoire de cette collection commence le 11 décembre 1936 lorsque le nouveau roi d’Angleterre Edouard VIII abdique afin d’épouser Wallis Simpson, une américaine deux fois divorcée. Le couple vivra exilés en France dans une maison du bois de Boulogne prêtée par la Ville de Paris. Après leur décès la quasi-intégralité du contenu de l'appartement est léguée à l'Institut Pasteur en 1986 et c’est le milliardaire égyptien Mohamed Al-Fayed, propriétaire du Ritz et d’Harrods qui rachète la collection qu’il installe dans leur ancienne demeure transformée en musée privé pendant plus de 20 ans.The six following lots were part of the collection of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor sold in 1998 in an historic sale that comprised more that forty thousands family souvenirs inherited from the British Royal family and Wallis Simpson's family. Their story began on the 11th December 1936 when the new King Edward VIII abdicated to marry the twice divorced American Wallis Simpson. The couple lived in exile in France in a house loaned by the city of Paris in the Bois de Boulogne. After the death of the Duchess in 1986, the content of the house was left to the Institut Pasteur and purchased by the Egyptian billionaire Mohamed Al-Fayed, who owned the Ritz in Paris and Harrods, who installed it in a private museum for more than 20 years.
