The movement of the present watch, although unsigned, is of highest quality and very similar to a version of the famous "LeCoultre 19/20 RMCSQ" calibre.

Henry Lewis, retailer of fine watches, jewellery and silver, was active in London from 1876 until probably the early 20th century. The firm was recorded as Henry Lewis & Co. at 172 New Bond Street, London, from 1880 to 1898.

The coat-of-arms on the present watch are most probably those of a member of the Grey de Ruthyn family, motto "Mortem aut triumphum" (death or triumph), showing a dexter arm embowed in armour holding a sword.
