AN ORIGINAL WOODEN CASE OF THE HIGHLY-DESIRABLE 1945 TAYLOR

TAYLOR, FLADGATE & YEATMAN
Taylors celebrates their tercenternary in 1992 and can justifiably claim to be the oldest established of all the major port houses. Sometimes known as the "Latour" of Port, the wine tends to be deeply coloured, full-bodied with an inimitable "backbone".

Vintage 1945 *****

The first end-of-war vintage was of superb quality, although, as in other European wine regions, the quantity was small. The growing season was perfect, although great heat at harvest time created some vinification problems resulting in some over-high volatile acidity. With rare exceptions all were Oporto-bottled. Twenty-two shippers, Cockburn the only major abstention. These tautly constructed, concentrated wines are still superb - if they have been well cellared. Vintage Wine, MB
