This poster was designed for the Sex Pistols' first foreign concert on 3rd September, 1976. Only a hundred were produced and only three of the final posters bearing the lettering are thought to have survived. This poster is thought to be the final mock-up colour proof before the lettering was added. The image was a Malcolm McLaren design originally intended for a T-shirt, used apparently despite objections from Glen Matlock and Bernard Rhodes. In fact, when adding the concert details to this poster, Rhodes apparently tried to cover up the boy's genitals with the lettering and reportedly said "Malcolm likes to titillate, but I like to get down to substance."
