CHINE, XIIEME-XIVEME SIECLE
Reposant sur une fine base rectangulaire ornée de volutes maintenues par quatre petits clous, elles sont à décor repoussé d'un cartouche dans lequel figurent un cerf et une biche debout auprès d'un branchage de lingzhi dans une forêt luxuriante, tous sur un fond de motifs de vagues stylisées.
Longueurs des plaques: circa 5,5 cm. (2 ¼ in.)

Provenance

Previously in a French private collection, acquired in China prior to 1935 by repute.

Lot Essay

These present gold belt plaques are outstanding in the fineness of its metalwork and the vividness of the design. They may belong to the same group of nineteen gold belt plaques decorated with the exact same design of stag and doe, of the Mengdiexuan collection, exhibited and illustrated in the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2014, Radiant Legacy: Ancient Chinese Gold from the Mengdiexuan Collection, no. 44.
