TWO BRONZE 'MYTHICAL BEAST' MIRRORS
SONG DYNASTY AND LATER
One mirror is cast with a central knob in the shape of a tortoise standing on the back of a mythical sea creature and flanked by two cranes. The other mirror has a central animal-form loop that is surrounded by four leaping fish and surrounded by a band of birds amongst foliage.
The largest 4 ½ in. (11.5 cm.) diam., with later carved wood stands
