TWO ENAMELLED GOLD AND HARDSTONE HAND-SEALS
Tapering cylindrical gold seal, the surface engine-turned with scalework pattern, the sablé borders and domed lid decorated with cloisonné enamelled translucent blue, red and yellow flowers, opaque blue enamel flowers, opalescent enamel pellets and scrolling translucent green enamelled foliage, framed with burnished gold, foliate-chased bands, the domed frosted lid stamped with a Royal Crown embellished with red, green and blue translucent cloisonné enamel, the lapis lazuli matrix engraved with identical crown; together with a double-ended cylindrical gold seal, similarly engine-turned, chased and enamelled, the two lapis lazuli matrices engraved with monograms 'FW III' and 'LvMS'
3 5/8 in. (91 mm.) high; 3 1/8 in. (89 in.) high
The monograms are those of King Frederick William III of Prussia (1770-1840) and his first wife, Luise Auguste Wilhelmine Amalie of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (1776-1810). (2)
