By the Imperial Porcelain Factory, St. Petersburg, period of Nicholas I
Each circular, the center gilt with octofoil strapwork, the border decorated with gilt, green and red foliate and strapwork ornaments, one centering an Imperial double-headed eagle, another the monogram of Grand Duke Konstantin Nikolaevich, with gilt rim, marked under base with underglaze blue factory mark

Lot Essay

Based on a design by Feodor Solntsev (1801-1892), the designer of the Kremlin Service, this service was made between 1848-1852. It was ordered on the occasion of the marriage of Grand Duke Konstantin Nikolaevich to Alexandra Iosifovna, Princess of Saxe-Altenburg in 1848.
