WITH MAKER'S MARKS OF ULISSE CANTAGALLI AND SAMSON, FRANCE AND ITALY, LATE 19TH CENTURY
Each on short foot with drop-shaped body rising to a slightly waisted neck and with polychrome painted decoration, the first with elegant floral sprays within ovoid scalloped medallions on a fish scale pattern field dotted with triple cintamani like motifs between two registers of highly stylised knotwork, the neck with simplified saaz leaf ; the second with hanging swaying saz leaf amidst a ground of carnations, tulips, stylised irises and hyacinths, on white ground
The Ulisse Cantagalli vase 10 ¼in. (26cm.) high, the Samson vase 10 ½in. (26.7cm.) high
