The Victorian gothic chamfered and crenellated bookcases reflect the romantic mediaeval style promoted by the architect A.W.N. Pugin's furniture at the New Palace of Westminster and exhibited at the 1851 Great Exhibition. With their limed finish they relate to the 'Eaton Hall' wardrobe included in this sale (see lot 379).
