The first of a karasu tengu hatching from its egg, its feathers indicated by incised and cross-hatched lines, broken bits of the egg remaining around the hole in the egg from which the creature emerges; the second of a bird with eyes of inlaid horn, perched on the branch of a bare tree with rough bark, the bird's long tail feathers curling beneath it along the tree trunk
