Eroteide Soldati had been kind to Verdi in his early days and this letter is a charming example of Verdi remembering old friends. Franco Abbiati quotes part of a letter dated Milan 7 November 1845 where Soldati is described as già prodiga di gentilezze quand'egli era un semplice maestrino. (Franco Abbiati, Giuseppe Verdi, Milan, 1951, vol.1, p.589)

Apparently unpublished.
