Lot Essay

A Chinese export silver ewer of related form and date presented to Louis XIV by the Ambassadors of Siam in 1686 was recently acquired by the Palace of Versailles, France, where it is now housed. A related silver parcel gilt wine ewer, Kangxi period (166201722), sold at Venduehuis, The Hague,16 December 2021, lot 2539.
