This highly organised compilation of the numerous ideas, projects and future possibilites to extend from the 1940 Walt Disney film Fantasia, was amassed by Bob Carr, the Director of Educational Research for Walt Disney Studios, at the time and given to Disney on the 23 October 1940 a few days before the premier in New York on 13 November 1940.
Fantasia did not take as much money from the box-office on its original release as first expected. Partly due to the expense of the Fantasisa sound system, an early stereo system, which had to be specifically installed in theatres, meaning it was only shown in 14 cinemas. In addition the release occured during the Second World War, which impacted on the European market. Unfortunately many of the future Fantasia ideas did not come to fruition, although some were transposed into sequences for other features, including Peter And The Wolf in Make Mine Music, 1946, Fight Of The Bumblebee in Melody Time 1948 and also for the two sequences in the 2000 sequel for Fantasia Rhapsody in Blue and The Firebird.
