Lot Essay

Tyndale was born in Bruges and came to England at the age of sixteen. He first painted in oil, but later under the influence of Helen Allingham and Charles Hayes, turned exclusively to painting in watercolour. Tyndale travelled in Morocco, Egypt, Lebanon, Italy and Japan, and later in his life he lived in Venice.
