This work was a gift from the artist to the photographer Eddy Posthuma de Boer, when visiting De Kooning in his studio in 1981. During that stay Posthuma de Boer made several photos of De Kooning in his studio. These photos have been exhibited in 2005 during the Willem de Kooning exhibition in the Kunsthal, Rotterdam.
