Provenance: Robert Stratten Holmes (signature on title dated Liverpool, 30.6.[18]86 -- [J.W. Rimington-Wilson] -- [E.D.R. Eagar] -- [John Arlott] (previosuly bound with lot 118).
Fourth and last edition, recording the principal matches during a season of ideal summer weather ("The memory of man fails to call up any summer which, taken from its advent to its expiration, has been so well adapted to the uses of the game"). At 28 pages, Denison's "Review of the Season" was longer than any hitherto; altough the scores themselves occupy only 108 pages compared to 124 for the 1844 Season. Allen 46; Padwick 1068.
